Sleeping on the Ceiling!

Fairies

You know what you feel like when you wake up on the wrong side of the bed? What if you woke up on ceiling? Sleeping on the Ceiling looks under the bed, where Goblins and Faeries fight over the moon, and the Oracle knows your deepest secrets. Premiering at Whatcom Community College Theatre in Bellingham on December 1st and 2nd, 2007.

Stone_guardians

This physical theatre fairy-tale follows a father who literally falls into the dreams that he tried to convince his son weren’t real. Trapped in his own relentless imagination, his doubts and fears manifest as monsters that include walking flowers, club wielding goblins, mischievous faeries, stone guardians and a beautiful goblin queen. Aerial acrobatics, juggling, dance and theatre meld Watch_video seamlessly into the story as he gets pulled deeper into the dreamworld.

By turns lyrical and outrageously silly, Sleeping on the Ceiling uses circus arts and physical theatre to tell the story of one man’s discovery that joy in his life starts when he stops fighting his monsters and starts to play with them. The cast of professional circus performers takes the audience on a journey that recaptures that lingering feeling of magic that you get when you wake up from a dream, that magical sense of possibility and play.
